By their very nature, events involve the mass movement of people and equipment, utilising a large amount of energy. Whilst organisers have a duty to assess the impact of their events, making them solely responsible for addressing that impact would be logistically and financially difficult. Whilst there has been a great deal of media activity about companies offsetting their entire carbon footprint, this can be a costly exercise if carried out by a single organisation. We believe that through the mass collaboration which events make possible, a small contribution from each and every individual would vastly reduce the impact on the environment. Put Something Back works with event organisers to establish ways of implementing “Low Carbon Events”? through engaging the assistance of exhibitors, visitors and contractors alongside their own efforts to redress the impact being caused.
